Less Sad Post

I was able to complete my two hours of cardio yesterday. I was not having fun on the elliptical machine but I kept reminding myself of the pics taken of me at the Big Boss' Going Away Party and I was able to keep going. And from there I went to the treadmill and got an hour in there, too. I'm like the Energeizer Bunny, I just keep going and going, no matter how discouraged I get.

I had to pick YS from the airport last night. She had been to DC for the weekend to visit a grade school friend newly re-discovered. Her flight was supposed to get in at 6:55 p.m. I called Spirit Airlines twice last night to verify the time. The second time was around 6:23 p.m. and the automated system informed me that the flight would be on time at 6:55 p.m. I hung up and within seconds my phone was ringing and announced it was YS. I answer the phone saying, "How are you calling me? You shouldn't be able to call me." I couldn't hear anything from her end though, so I hung up and waited for her to call back which she did within moments. Her flight was on the ground and she was getting her bags from the overhead container. ARGH!!! I told her that I had literally just hung up from Spirit and that their flight wasn't supposed to land for another 25 minutes. I had been sitting in front of my tiny air conditioner in my shorts and my favorite T-shirt ever. It's oversized with big French Angel fish on it that I bought in the Florida Keys oh so many years ago (1988 or 89) and is essentially threadbare. This shirt not only doesn't leave the apartment building, it doesn't leave the apartment and nor does the door get answered in this shirt. It is not for public consumption, but it's way comfy when you're dealing with what is really no air conditioning for an eleven hundred square foot apartment.

I quickly exchanged the t-shirt for a tank top, threw on some jewelry, grabbed my phone and purse and ran out the door. I made decent time to the airport and found YS at my favorite terminal at DTW. Yes, I like the LC Smith Terminal or for those of you not quite as familiar with the airport, the old green glass terminal. There are discussions (designs are being solicited from local architectural firms) of replacing it along with the old NorthWorst terminal with the "North Terminal." This will make me very sad as the LC Smith Terminal is the Detroit Airport to me. It was the terminal that my TWA Flight Attendant Aunt always flew into, as well as every other member of my family. I remember being in the old NorthWorst terminal once and that was before it was the NW terminal. I love the ugly purple glass blocks that make up the walls. To me I know I'm home when I see those. The new NorthWorst terminal is cool and all, but it looks like any other fancy-pants airport terminal built in recent memory. There's nothing that says I'm home to me there.

Anyway, I picked up YS and she showed me her new opal earrings (graduation gift to herself) and told me all about her trip. Once I got her home we decided that food was a good thing and that sushi was an even better thing. As our sushi guy opened a second restaurant closer to Mom's house, we went there and I made YS drive since the area around there is a complete clusterfuck of cars and construction and highway interchanges, etc. Too much shit crammed into one small area does not make for fun driving. We had our asparagus tempura sushi and were happy. Then it was on to DSW as I still needed shoes to go with the new brown Capri pants. *sigh* I had a $5 off coupon from DSW for my b-day and I splurged. I got three new pairs of shoes: brown sandals, brown close-toed mules and blue sandals. And they were all on clearance. WOOHOO!!! I didn't believe the girl when she told me $62! So, I think I'll be wearing the new pants, new sandals and new shirt to YS's graduation party on Sunday. I don't care if family sees me looking ridiculous with my legs all hanging out. ;-)

Clarity took this Personality Defect Quiz and it was amusing, so I took it too. Turns out I'm a:

Hippie

You are 14% Rational, 57% Extroverted, 28% Brutal, and 28% Arrogant.

You are the Hippie! Characterized by a strong sense of extroversion, irrationality, gentleness, and humility, you no doubt frolic through fields preaching peace and love to all! You are probably either very spiritual or needlessly paranoid about "the man," like most hippies, as a result of your focus on intuition and feelings over cold, brutal logic. You are also very, very social. And like any hippie, who would have no qualms about hitchiking across the country just to meet some interesting people, you too love to interact with others, even complete strangers. Because we know most any hippie is peace-loving and humble, it stands to reason that you, as well, are terribly gentle and humble, almost to the point of revulsion. Your carefree attitude of peace and harmony is probably very, very sickening to realists or cynics or anyone who isn't a hippie, to tell the truth. In short, your personality is defective because you are overly emotional, extroverted, gentle, and humble--thus making you an annoying hippie. And you listen to psychadelic rock and smoke a whole lot of pot. Okay, maybe not, but I wouldn't be surprised if you did.

To put it less negatively:

1. You are more INTUITIVE than rational.

2. You are more EXTROVERTED than introverted.

3. You are more GENTLE than brutal.

4. You are more HUMBLE than arrogant.

Compatibility:

Your exact opposite is the Sociopath.

Other personalities you would probably get along with are the Hand-Raiser, the Televangelist, and the Robot.

ARGH!!! I was just offered four PRIMO tickets to Sunday's Tigers game – 3rd base side ON THE FIELD (read: REALLY REALLY CLOSE TO MY BRANDON) – and I had to turn them down since it's YS's graduation party that day. I'm so bummed, but I have to be there.
