Ginastera's Estancia

Yes, I've been missing in action...been too busy knitting and working to blog. Besides, I was being nice to LL by not Catblogging. ;-)

In the meantime, enjoy one of my favorite pieces of classical music. The first time I heard it I was on my feet the second it ended yelling and applauding madly as was the rest of the Detroit symphony crowd. I turned to the YS and said, "That was fucking brilliant."

I've never heard of that piece. It looks like a fun piece to play.

ETW - Yeah, thanks I've been a complete slacker.

LL - Yes, I am. But don't expect it to last forever. ;-)

FWG - Another vote for catblogging...pretty sure LL is losing this one.

ZS - Hey there!!! I hadn't either until that night. Maybe I'll find another version on youtube to broaden more horizons.

Jenn says the conductor looks like Pauly Shore...

I liked the energy in that piece. Although I generally have trouble with any piece of music that uses more than three chords. ;)

Wow, everyone is having so much fun. I enjoyed watching the conductor.

It goes without saying that I vote for the catblogging to return immediately!

Suzy - Hope you had fun with Meg. I hope I get to see A2 in a few weeks. I'm taking him out for sushi. Catblogging shall return.

Dr. - I can see the Pauly Shore comparison, but I thought he was less annoying than Pauly. ;-)

Fermi - If the Atlanta Symphony ever plays it, I highly recommend seeing it in person! It is bloody brilliant in person!

Wherefore art thou, Kat? Am I going to have to join Facebook to keep up with you? ;-)

You know what is so brilliant about this? I will tell you. I played clarinet in grade school and jr h/s and the most terrifying experience was when we had to go to concert. It was horrible. I think the Pauly Shore look a like has something with the way he has chosen to conduct this group. Really, what a great way to not worry about screwing up musically, LOL. I loved it.
PS
Doc didn't tell me it was your blog! I thought you were still on your hyatious.

Fermi - Wouldn't do you any good as I'm not spending time there either. ;-)

LL - Honestly? You were rooting for that pansy-ass? That's pathetic. He can't even fight unless his teammate is holding the opposing player. I wouldn't have pegged you as a fan of someone who fights like a girl.

Red - I'm highly jealous you got to learn an instrument. While we had band in high school, I was taking too many college-prep courses and working...band was definitely not encouraged by the former father.

I didn't make the cut for the High School band (and glad I didn't because I was busy with softball) but I did do it in grade school for three years and Jr HS for 3 years.

and um... WB? Did you move this post?
