Woohoo! I didn't die from my cold

Thanks for all the get well soon wishes. I woke up yesterday feeling immensely better. Of course, the head cold simply moved to my lungs, as all illnesses are wont to do with me. I was so happy to have clear sinuses again that I took it in stride. What else can I do? I'm back to coughing up a lung regularly, which for me, beats the hell out of blowing my nose every other second, stuffing tissues up my nose just to sleep, and sneezing more violently than usual. (Heather, I know exactly what you mean, I'm pretty sure I woke the lady downstairs with my sneezing over the weekend.)

I didn't go to the gym, but I did do my Drew Workout on Tuesday (minus the squats and lunges, as I knew I didn't have that kind of energy). Yesterday I walked a bit over 1 mile each way to the Farm Market to buy fresh fruits and veggies (and forgot to bring an apple or pear with me to work). I'm coughing so much today that I'm light-headed (no, it's not a normal state of mind for me, thank you very much), but I'll see later if I'm up for a walk or the gym.

I took my measurements on New Year's Day (I have no real clue how much I weigh as I don't own a scale), but I'm not happy with my measurements (what woman ever is, really). I have started writing down everything I eat, in an effort to find out why I can't lose weight or inches, no matter how much I exercise. So far, except for probably New Year's Day when I was at a party, I haven't eaten anywhere near 2000 calories in a day, so I'm not sure eating is my problem. *sigh* I'm pissed.

Oops, still no movies...one of these days...

K-
I am using thedailyplate.com to keep track of what I am eating. I need to get back into formal wear for the cruise in February. The Daily Plate is free and gives you calorie goals and has a food database so it's easy to keep track of things. It's easier than writing things down for me personally.

The Drew Workout? Drew Carey? No wonder you can't lose weight... But it makes me wonder... does it culminate with you wearing glasses and having a flattop haircut? :P

As for the diet... my dear, it's not necessarily how much you eat, but what that is. Your particular diet will probably always make it difficult on you, but that's the trade off.

There are no perfect measurements. What works on one woman's body looks bad on another woman's body and vice versa. But true sexiness comes from within, not from the outside anyways.

Hope you feel better. Walking is awesome. I do it daily, sick or not. The only time I won't do it is when it rains.

Julie - Thanks! I'll have to check that out.

LL - Drew is the name of the trainer who developed the program for me, smart ass. ;-) Somehow I don't think my cup of Kashi cereal with nonfat milk, PB&J on whole grain bread and veggie hot dog with mustard is really that bad of a diet. Today I had salad for lunch with 1 T of salad dressing.

Zombieslayer - Agreed, but when you feel fat, you don't act sexy, I find. I used to walk home every day when I lived in SF - from the Financial District to the Western Addition. Harder here when it dips below freezing.

Glad you didn't die. I figure you wouldn't be able to post if you were dead though. I don't think you have anything to worry about. You look fine. It must be a woman thing. Do you count Guinness toward what you eat?

Kathleen,

Before I got married and ended up short on time and money I had a fantastic personal trainer.

They helped with the diet, showed me how to work out right, etc.

I lost about 20 Lbs before I started working out with them and I guess another 20 of fat afterwards.

I was almost buff when I met my wife. Then she wrecked it. I kkid because I love.

Anyway, if you're interested I'll send you an email with their particulars. They own their own private gym.

Does your doctor suggest that you should lose weight?

I can't stand runny nose, congestion or the drip. Makes me crazy. Oh and ear congestion. These things are torture.

Kathleen - Feel fat? Well, how fat?

You couldn't convince me that Queen Latifah isn't sexy. She's a pretty big woman. Both my real estate agent (who is white by the way) and I find her very sexy.

Sexiness isn't limited to body shape. For the record, I find Kate Moss sexy too. I used to be crazy about Kate Moss. And Tyra Banks. And Salma Hayek. And Laetitia Casta. All have completely different body shapes, but one thing they have in common, they're sexy from the inside out.

But yeah, I hear you about the cold. When it gets to the low 30s, I don't do shit. In case I haven't told you, I'm from Chicago originally so I can guess what Detroit cold is like.

Jason - Guinness actually has the lowest calories and carb count of most beers (including that ultra crap), but yes, I do count it. I haven't had a beer since last Thursday.

Jorge - I'm cheap, I go to the work gym. When I was doing my Drew workout last Sept./Oct., I finally lost 5 lbs (after working out for 3-4 years and losing nada), but then I had the knee issue and I took a break. I'll let you know if I want to contact them.

FWG - My dr. knows how I feel about my weight.

Zombie - I consider myself to be a good 20-30 overweight. I think Queen Latifah is beautiful. She carries her weight differently than I do, however. My excess weight likes to hang out in my stomach and butt, although it has sort of spread itself everywhere. Right now I'm hating my face as it's much rounder than I care for it to be.

I can handle 30 as long as the wind isn't blowing and the sun's out. Anything below 20 is too darn cold for me.

Glad you're better. They say as long as you're above ground, that's half the battle...

Hooray! You're well. I hate that post-cold lingering cough that won't go away. I hope you get rid of that soon. Mine finally did, six weeks after the cold was history.

What Drew workout?

I hope you just stop coughing, sneezing, and all the rest of it.

How's your place with dustmites? Do you vacuum furniture and bedding? Curtains? Do you change the sheets weekly?

Those suckers can make people sick constantly. I just don't mess around with them.
